President Teddy Roosevelt once said, “Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
When we were children, all of us had huge dreams. Remember some of the dreams you had? I dreamed of playing college football. I dreamed of being a hero and saving people from dangerous situations. I dreamed of being a cowboy in the wild, wild, west. Some of you may have dreamed of being an astronaut and going to the moon, or hitting that game winning homerun in the World Series. One of my good friends dreamed of becoming a racecar driver. Regardless of your dream, every one of us, when we were young, were dreamers. No dream was too big. The world hadn’t gotten to us yet to show us that we couldn’t possibly achieve our dreams. But what did we do? Over the years we started to let our dreams die. People began to tell us that we couldn’t do the things we wanted. They said, “You’re out of your mind. What you’re dreaming is impossible. Responsible people don’t chase after dreams. Settle down. Be sensible. Be content.” But you know what I say about that? Poppy cock! That’s a bunch of hooey! It’s time to stop listening to the naysayers and dare to dream again. It all boils down to pursuing the dreams God has for us and trusting Him to see us through. It’s a matter of faith. You may have a dream that you can’t see how it could ever come true. But you have to look past right now and look to the potential of the dream. And besides, if our dreams only consisted of what we could do, we wouldn’t have to trust God. So my challenge for all of MVC is this: “It’s time to dream again”. It’s time to dream big dreams!!! God sized dreams!!! I truly believe God wants to rock our world if we will just trust Him!!! What do you need to trust Him for today? Reignite the childhood spark that caused you to dream.
