I realize that I have been rather slack lately keeping the blog posted, however things have proven to be a little busy. I took some time off to go hunting in Illinois with a friend. A tree fell on our camper down at Lake James. Thanksgiving always proves to be a busy time. And on and on as you're all well aware. I wanted to post something today for the staff and leadership of our church. God has truly blessed us with a wonderful team to guide us as we pursue His plan and purpose. I know that there are some folks that believe we should get everyone's opinion about everything and set up a congregational style of leadership, but that's not the way our constitution is written, neither is it - in my opinion - Biblical. Whenever you have 500 people trying to chart the direction of the church, you probably will have 600 different opinions. That being said, I do not discount your creative ideas and encouragement. And I believe at times God speaks in various ways to lead us to His desires. But I also believe, based on the Bible, that He uses the pastor and leadership to provide guidance to reach His goal for the church.
1. To support you with vision, love, coaching, resources, and encouragement.
2. To do everything I can to help you be successful and achieve your ministry goals and vision.
3. To value you with affirmation of words, blessings, and finances.
4. To honor and respect you, your gift, and your calling.
5. To hold you accountable to the vision, commitments, and strategies of Mountain View.
6. To help you grow and develop to reach full potential.
7. To be your pastor, boss (to the staff), and your friend.
- You are my inner circle of trusted partners in ministry.
- I highly value our relationship.
- However, if I ever esteem our friendship above my leadership then I won’t say what needs to be said and we limit our progress as a team.
8. To always be truthful and transparent with you.
9. To think the best, believe the best, and speak the best about you. I will publicly defend and support you regardless of any disagreements we have in private. And I expect the same from you.
10. And should the time come, I will release you in love and favor if God ever leads you from this church.
