Change

How do you respond to change? Does it excit you? Does it stress you out? Lao Tzu once said, "If you realize that all things change, there is nothing you will try to hold on to. If you're not afraid of dying, there is nothing you cannot achieve." This time of year the season is getting ready to change. Soon the long summer days will change into short fall days. The heat of summer will change into the cool of autumn. The green leaves on the trees will change into thousands of brilliant colors. And not only that, but we all are changing in some way. I know that my hair has changed. It has become gray. Change is a normal part of life. I appreciate the way things were before but I embrace the change. I was thinking about this today as I was reading 2 Corinthians 5. Verse 17 is very clear that change is a necessary part of our lives. It says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" We all need to find joy in the moment and delight in life's changes. Besides, God has designed things to change according to His plan and purposes. Therefore, we need to be grateful for what He is doing and face change with confidence and excitment.
